IT help for people, not for computers

I'll come round, we'll sit down at the kitchen table, I'll show you what I'm doing, and before I leave I'll stick a note on the fridge saying what to do if it happens again. If it can be sorted remotely, I'll help straight away – the first twenty minutes of diagnosis are free.

The things people ring us about most:

Tell me what's broken

A few words will do, the way you'd say it to a neighbour. I'll get back to you during working hours and we'll work out what to do.

You'll know the price before I click on anything.

What to do when…

The IT chap who leaves a note on the fridge

  • Price agreed up front – before the first click
  • If we can't fix it, you don't pay
  • 30 days of free questions after the repair
  • Remote access only with your say-so

The note on the fridge

When I'm done, I don't shut the laptop and dash off. We sit for another five minutes, I take a sheet of paper and write down the three or four things most likely to happen to you again: what to do when the Wi-Fi drops, how to tell it's a scammer on the phone, and who to ring when you're not sure. Then I stick it on the fridge, because that's where you'll still find it in six months, long after you've forgotten my face. In a business, the owner gets the same thing, only on one side of A4 and in order of what to fix now and what can wait.

  1. 1

    You ring or write

You describe what's going on in your own words. I'll ask two or three questions, tell you the price, and we'll agree whether we can sort it remotely or whether I should come round.

  2. 2

I fix it at your table

We sit down at the kitchen table, I turn the laptop so you can see the screen, and I say out loud what I'm doing at every step. If something can't be done, I'll tell you straight and won't charge a thing.

  3. 3

I leave a note on the fridge

Before I go, I write down on paper what to do if it happens again and who to ring. For thirty days afterwards you can ask me anything for free.

What I'll come and help with

At your home in Bratislava, remotely anywhere in Slovakia. We can talk in English, Slovak, Russian or Ukrainian.

What we promise you

Price agreed up front

Before we touch anything, you tell us what's going on and we tell you what it will cost. If something extra turns up during the repair, we stop and ask you first.

If we can't fix it, you don't pay

If the problem can't be solved, you pay nothing for the call-out or the time. The risk of us not managing it is ours, not yours.

30 days of free questions after the repair

For a month after the repair you can ring us whenever something slips your mind. And if the same thing breaks again, we'll come back at no charge.

Remote access only with your say-so

We connect only once you've clicked to agree. We copy nothing, you see everything we do the whole time, and you can end the session with a single button whenever you like.

Is "the bank" ringing and asking for a code?

Scammers aren't interested in your computer, they're interested in you. In one visit we'll go through what a fake text, a call from "the bank" or a courier who never turns up looks like, and a note stays on the fridge telling you what to do when they ring. Protection for parents also makes a rather good present from the children.

How to spot a scam

For businesses where nobody is "the computer person"

A café, a clinic, an online shop or a workshop with three to thirty people. You don't need an IT department, just someone you can ring who sorts it out before the till stops working.

  • I'll check you have backups and that something can actually be restored from them
  • I'll set up the computers, printers and Wi-Fi so a new person can sit down and get on with it
  • I'll go through passwords and access so a former employee doesn't still hold the keys to the business
  • I'll look after everything month by month, so the only time you think about computers is when the invoice arrives
I'd like a one-day audit

What you get from a one-day audit

  1. A one-page plan: what to fix now, what to do within a month and what can wait
  2. A list of the places that would hurt most – from the till going down to losing your orders
  3. A fixed price for the repairs and for monthly care, so you can decide without any pressure

Tell me what's bothering you

A few words is enough, no technical terms needed. I'll get back to you during working hours, and outside them if it's urgent.
